MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID FOR THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
This online course is designed to help roofing industry professionals recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, provide initial support and connect individuals to appropriate resources.
Participants will walk away equipped with the knowledge, language and confidence to help create safer, healthier workplaces—one conversation at a time.
Learning objectives:
- Recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges in the roofing industry
- Discuss how to approach, listen and respond to someone in distress
- Identify methods of offering peer support to foster a culture of care and safety
- Explain how to connect individuals to professional help during a mental health challenge or crisis
Additional information:
- The workshop includes two hours of self-paced pre-course work to be completed before attending the live session.
- Participants should attend on their own devices (laptops or tablets preferred).
- Each participant will receive a manual, workbook, resource guide and mental health toolbox talks to take back to their teams.
- Each participant will receive a three-year Mental Health First Aid certification accredited through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
